The Phyron app is built for smartphones. To get consistent, high-quality vehicle imagery, your device needs to meet a minimum specification for its camera, sensors and operating system.
This article covers what you need, what we recommend, and why tablets aren't supported.

Devices below the minimum specification aren't supported and may be unable to install or update the app.
Why tablets aren't supported
The Phyron app doesn't support tablets, on either iOS or Android.
The app relies on real-time guidance during a photo session - level and alignment indicators, framing guides and stabilisation - all of which are calibrated for a handheld phone held in a fixed orientation. On tablets we can't control screen rotation in the same way, which means the camera view can display incorrectly, and the larger form factor makes it difficult to hold the device steady enough for clean, consistent captures.
Because of this, photos taken on a tablet may be misaligned, incorrectly cropped, or fail to process.
A tablet may occasionally allow the app to be installed. This doesn't mean the device is supported, and we're unable to troubleshoot issues arising from tablet use. Please use a supported smartphone for all photo sessions.
Getting the best results
Even on a supported device, a few things make a noticeable difference:
- Keep your app up to date. New versions include improvements to image capture and AI guidance.
- Update your operating system. We recommend running the latest iOS or Android release.
- Clean the camera lens before starting a session.
- Hold steady for around two seconds when capturing each shot, so the AI can detect the vehicle and frame correctly.
